About Mboka
Mboka was founded in 2016 by Amani Mbonika, a Tanzanian whose roots run deep in the landscapes he guides people through. The name โ an old Swahili word for "the village at the heart of things" โ reflects our conviction that travel is most meaningful when it connects you to something real.
We believe the greatest journeys are not found in a brochure โ they are built. Every safari we design begins with a conversation and ends with a story that belongs entirely to you. From the endless plains of the Serengeti to the coral-fringed shores of Zanzibar, we craft experiences that move people deeply and stay with them for life.
Our guides are among the finest in East Africa. Our vehicles go where others won't. And our promise is simple: when you travel with Mboka, every detail โ every sunrise, every camp, every encounter โ is exactly where it should be.

Our Philosophy
01
We do not offer packaged tours. Every journey begins with a conversation โ your interests, your pace, what you want to feel. Our designers then build something that has never existed before and never will again.
02
We deliberately limit the number of guests we take each year. This is not a growth business โ it is a craft. Fewer clients means more time, more attention, and more transformative encounters.
03
The single greatest determinant of your safari experience is the person beside you in the vehicle. Every Mboka guide undergoes a rigorous selection and mentorship process that takes years, not weeks.

Founder & Lead Safari Director

14 years in luxury travel
Head of Guest Experience
Amara orchestrates every detail of your journey from first enquiry to final transfer. Her obsession with the unexpected โ a private sundowner at a hippo pool, a chef who once cooked for a Tanzanian president โ sets Mboka apart.
18 years in East African ecology
Conservation & Sustainability Lead
A former field researcher with the Frankfurt Zoological Society, Lena ensures every Mboka itinerary actively contributes to wildlife corridors, anti-poaching initiatives, and the communities that live alongside the wilderness.
19 years guiding
Senior Wilderness Guide
James holds the rare distinction of being both a qualified bush pilot and a FGASA Level 3 guide. He has tracked leopards in Ruaha at midnight and guided solo expeditions across the Nyerere floodplains. His calm is legendary.
